"Memories of a Pirate" is a 12" x 12" x 2" shadow box. This item was handmade by the artist and has been in the artist's private collection on display. The wooden exterior is layered with multiple layers of acrylic paint and inks. The base of the display is an "aged" portion of a map featuring the West Indies and Caribbean. The map has been aged with inks and other art materials. A portion of screen supports a hand colored image of a pirate accented by a tassel. The lower left portion of the image is embellished with a starfish and an assortment of "gems' and "coins". The lower left corner features an empty bottle of rum, a miniature bottle with sand and seashell, and an assortment of "gems" and coins embedded in sand. This is a unique one of a kind artwork.
