This is a two-page spread using coffee for inspiration.  These are mixed media collages using assorted images from magazines.  The brown pen-work is called wormhole doodling. This is used to simulate the aroma from fresh coffee beans.  Shading is added with colored pencils and ebony pencils.  Sharpie markers are used to do the black lettering.  Soft gel medium is used to attach collage to the gessoed pages.

Koi Art Journal Page

Koi Art Journal Page---
Cover from an Asian magazine was cut to size and glued to the journal page using matte gel medium.  The koi were attached with a glue stick.  Shading was done with an ebony pencil.  A minimalist approach was used to preserve the quality of the background and text.

Rose Queen

This is single art journal page.   It was done on an un-gessoed page. I think overall the pages in this journal turn out best when gessoed first, but this was one of the first pages, so it was an experiment.  The markers tend to bleed through the paper without the gesso.  Graphix markers by derwent, daler rowney acrylics inks, colored pencil, black archival ink and graphite were used on the page.

The Wheels Turn

This is a mixed media journal entry.  It is made from 3 different images.  The large wheel image was glued to the black gesso background with matte gel medium.  The clock face and the female face were attached using glue stick.  The text was added using graphix pens in fuchsia and white.  The hair was also accented with graphix pens.  Make sure to test the graphix pens on scrap paper before using in the journal.  Sometimes these tend to spit and leave circles.  the graphix pens are by derwent.

She Mourned Art Journal page

"She Mourned" is an art journal page.  The journal is rather small, 5 1/2" x 81/2".  This page was not gessoed first, so the graphik markers bled through to the back.  I did 2 pages without gesso.  The rest of the pages, I am adding gesso first to expand my range of media.  The images were attached with glue stick and came from different magazines.  Both images were accented with markers to highlight color.  A graphite pencil was used to add shading in the background and around the edges.

"The Ditto Project 1" with "The Artstronauts"

I'm a part of a group of Artists called "The Artstronauts".  Teesha and Tracy Moore are the founders of the group.  Daily art related posts and other information is presented to the group via the website.  This is such a valuable and interesting group.  I have learned so much by being a part of the group.  The experience is invaluable.  Teesha posted some of her "bare" collage pages as part of a group project called "The Ditto Project".  Each artist printed the pages and then finished them in their unique style.

Here's my "take" on Ditto Project One. I'm working in a small journal--pages are about 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". I printed each as a two page spread, made them smaller and adhered them to the gessoed journal pages. Each half was treated as an individual page, with the black edges and the unifying element. I used a mixture of inks, various paint pens, colored pencils, and graphite.

Teesha Moore has an Etsy shop, where you can purchase goodies as well as your membership to "The Artstronauts".   Here's the link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/teeshamoore?page=1
